Lesson on wig making and hair extensions
Seema Chopra, a Wig specialist came to visit our class and gave us a lecture on her career in wig making and all the tools and equipment you will need when making. It was a really interesting and inspiring lecture whereby we were able to have time with her after the lecture for a session in 'Wig Making/Hair Extensions .
We were asked to bring in some acrylic hair in order for us to practice some of our tribal looks. Myself and Emily created a giant up-do using acrylic hair and coloured hair. We used a prop in order to get the height in the hair, for this we used tights filled with wadding, so that we could secure it using grips. Once it was in place we could begin to wrap the hair around the prop to get some height. We backcombed the hair first, so that it became stiff and would stay in place a lot better. It's also a lot easier to work with.
This is what we produced!.....
We plaited in some red and yellow into the hair also, and then wrapped it around the front of the head and secured with grips.
